Why Outdoor ZipScreen?

Looking for reliable Zip Blinds Singapore homeowners actually use daily — not just for looks, but real protection?

Our Outdoor ZipScreen system is built to handle Singapore’s unpredictable weather conditions, helping reduce rain splash, harsh sunlight, heat, and glare while still allowing airflow and visibility.

Unlike standard outdoor roller blinds, our zip-guided track system locks the fabric securely within the side channels, helping the blind stay stable even during strong wind or heavy rain. This makes it one of the most effective solutions for HDB balconies, condo patios, landed outdoor spaces, and service yards.

At Ecohaus, we customise every Outdoor ZipScreen based on your balcony layout, usage needs, and exposure to sun and rain — so your space feels more usable, comfortable, and practical every day.

Questions?

How is ZipScreen outdoor blinds different from other brands?

Think of a ZipScreen as more than just a standard outdoor blind—it’s an incredibly tough, Australian-designed system built specifically to turn your balcony into a comfortable, modern extension of your living room. Developed way back in 1988, it brings over 35 years of global engineering right to your home, with more than 10 years of proven track record right here in windy Singapore.

Unlike normal outdoor roller blinds that rattle and flap around in bad weather, a ZipScreen uses a clever, secure track system that locks the fabric tightly into the side frames.

Why it stands out from the crowd:

  • Proven Heritage: Australian-designed since 1988 with over 35 years of non-stop innovation.
  • Local Trust: Over a decade of successful installations across Singapore’s high-rise condos and estates.
  • Wind-Tunnel Tested: Engineered and tested in Australia to handle heavy gusts without budging.
  • Built to Last: Every component is fabric-strength tested for maximum outdoor durability.
  • Super Smooth: The zip-guided track makes rolling them up or down effortless and stable.
  • Weather-Ready: Holds firm against driving rain and heavy winds—no annoying fabric flapping.
  • Ultimate Comfort: Slashes heat, cuts out glaring sun, blocks UV rays, and gives you great daytime privacy.
  • Rust-Proof: Made entirely from high-grade aluminium that easily handles our salty, humid tropical air.
  • Sleek Looks: Minimal gaps and a clean, hidden finish that blends perfectly with your home’s design.
  • Flexible Control: Available in simple manual pull-downs or smart, motorised versions for total ease.

Keep an eye out for the official ZipScreen logo and their signature sleek, boxed top cover (the pelmet). If you don’t see that official branding, it’s not the genuine, high-performing Australian tech we stand behind!

We get asked this all the time! The design team in Australia actually tested this out and decided against it because adding lights inside the tracks makes servicing a total nightmare later on. Since most balconies already have their own lighting, we prefer to focus on what we do best: giving you the perfect shade.

While no outdoor fabric blind can create a 100% airtight seal like a glass wall, our 1% openness fabric does an amazing job at holding in the chill. It creates a fantastic “cool buffer zone” on your balcony, keeping the space significantly cooler than leaving the balcony wide open.

Our popular 1% openness fabric is fantastic at stopping driving rain and keeping heavy splashes out while still letting fresh air circulate. If you want maximum rain protection, we also have a 0% openness option. Just keep in mind that during crazy monsoon storms or severe weather, a tiny bit of moisture might still find its way around the edges.

It is hands-down the absolute best solution for the dreaded afternoon sun! By stopping the intense heat before it even hits your living room’s glass doors, a ZipScreen keeps your home beautifully cool and gives your air-con a much-needed break.

Yes, absolutely! You’ll find ZipScreens installed in condos, HDB flats, and landed homes all across Singapore to keep out the heat, rain, and nosy neighbours. Management teams love them because they maintain a clean, uniform look for the building. While they are incredibly popular island-wide, we always recommend doing a quick, friendly double-check with your condo management (MCST) or Town Council before we start, just to be completely safe.

Not a chance! The entire structure is made of premium, high-grade aluminium designed to handle coastal environments. It is built from the ground up to survive Singapore’s extreme humidity and rain without breaking a sweat.

During the day, our 1% fabric works just like a one-way mirror—you get a beautiful view looking out, but neighbours can’t see in. Just remember: at night, if your balcony lights are bright and it’s pitch black outside, the effect flips around. That’s just the natural physics of light!

Maintenance is a total breeze! A light clean every 3 months is all it takes:

  • The Frame: Use a soft brush to clear away dust, and wipe down the frame with mild, soapy water.
  • The Side Channels: Pay a little extra attention here to prevent dirt or grit from building up in the tracks.
  • Quick tip: Avoid using silicone sprays or any oil-based products, as these actually attract dirt and can slow down the system over time.

We can comfortably cover an area up to 14 square metres with a single blind—which usually means a width of about 3.5 to 4 metres. If your balcony is extra wide, don’t worry! We will use multiple panels side-by-side to ensure the entire setup stays perfectly stable and wind-resistant.

Only if your blind is larger than 3m by 3m. Because the raw fabric rolls come in standard 3-metre widths, anything larger needs to be joined together using a professional heat-bonding method. We make this seam as tiny, clean, and discreet as humanly possible so it won’t ruin your view.

You get a 5-year, rock-solid warranty covering the motor, the internal system, and the mechanism. It’s the ultimate peace-of-mind guarantee that comes with genuine engineering. Just note that everyday wear-and-tear or accidental damage to the fabric isn’t covered. You can find all the fine print details right inside our handy E-catalogue.

You sure can, but let’s plan ahead! Ideally, the invisible grilles should be installed first. If you already have a ZipScreen up, our team will just need to carefully take it down for a moment to fit the grilles safely behind the tracks. This ensures both systems work perfectly and can be easily serviced in the future.

We highly recommend putting the ZipScreen in first! This allows your decking specialist to cut the wood panels perfectly around our side tracks for a flawless, seamlessly integrated look. If you already have decking installed, we can still put the ZipScreen up—just keep in mind that if you ever need to lift the decking in the future, the ZipScreen tracks might need to be temporarily unscrewed.

Yes! ZipScreens work brilliantly alongside permanent roof extensions or awnings, such as solid composite panels or polycarbonate roofs, as long as the existing overhead structure is solid and stable enough to hold the weight. The only exception is retractable canvas awnings, which usually aren’t rigid enough to support a fixed ZipScreen system.

Only if the ceiling has been properly reinforced behind the scenes. ZipScreens are heavy-duty systems that pull tight to stay stable in high winds, so they need a rock-solid structural beam or concrete slab to anchor into safely.

Yes, you can! By connecting the motorised system to a simple Smart Hub, you can lower your balcony blinds straight from your phone while sitting at the office. By the time you reach home, your living room will be beautifully cool and ready for you to relax.
