Questions?
1. Curtains or Blinds?
It entirely comes down to the overall “vibe” and layout of your room! Choose Curtains if you want to soften a room’s sharp edges, help block out echoing noises, and bring in that gorgeous, high-end boutique hotel look. On the flip side, go for Blinds if you are a little tight on space or love a clean, sharp, and minimalist line.
2. Why are Roller Blinds popular in Singapore?
Homeowners love them because they are sleek, minimal, super easy to maintain, and incredibly versatile. Whether it’s for your bedroom, living room, study nook, or home office, they fit in perfectly. Because they sit completely flat against your window, they take up virtually zero space, making them a fantastic, reliable choice for modern Singapore apartments where space is premium.
3. What is the difference between blackout and sunscreen Roller Blinds?
It all comes down to what you need for your space! Blackout Roller Blinds block out the light completely and give you maximum privacy, making them perfect for a good night’s sleep. On the other hand, sunscreen Roller Blinds gently filter the harsh sunlight and cut the glare, while still letting you see the view outside during the day.
4. Can Roller Blinds reduce heat?
Yes, they definitely do! By blocking out direct, glaring sunlight, they help keep your indoor spaces much cooler and more comfortable so you can save on air-con bills. Plus, our fabrics are specifically handpicked to withstand Singapore’s intense heat and high humidity without warping or degrading.
5. Can roller blinds block out 100% of daylight?
Yes, they absolutely can if you choose our blackout fabric option! If you want to go a step further and eliminate those tiny slivers of light gaps at the very edges of the window, we can install side channels for total, pitch-black darkness. This is a total game-changer for shift workers who sleep during the day or for baby nurseries.
6. What is an "Openness Factor" for day roller blinds?
Don’t let the technical name confuse you—it simply refers to how tightly woven or “perforated” the fabric is with tiny holes.
At Ecohaus, we offer four different options depending on your needs: 0.5%, 1%, 3%, and 5% openness.
The easiest way to think about it is: the more perforated the fabric is (like our 5% option), the clearer your view of the outdoors will be, but it will block less heat, light, and privacy. If you want maximum sun protection and privacy, you’ll want to go for a fabric that is less perforated, with our 0.5% option giving you the highest level of shade.
7. Are Roller Blinds easy to clean?
They are easily among the lowest-fuss window furnishings you can get. Because it’s just a flat sheet of fabric with no tricky slots or pleats, a quick dusting or an occasional wipedown is all it takes. If there is a spill or a stubborn smudge, just wipe it down with a damp cloth and mild soapy water to make it look brand new again.
8. Can I use roller blinds in my kitchen or bathroom?
You sure can, but you need the right material! For areas prone to splashes and steam, we highly recommend choosing our moisture-resistant and water-impermeable PVC materials. They won’t absorb grease, cooking odors, or steam, and you can wipe them clean effortlessly.
9. Are they budget-friendly compared to other window treatments?
Yes, they are incredibly pocket-friendly! Roller blinds are actually one of the most cost-effective ways to make your windows look beautiful and modern without compromising on quality, fabric strength, or durability.
10. Can I upgrade my manual roller blinds to motorized ones later?
We always prefer to be upfront with you: no, you’ll need to order a whole new set if you want to switch later. The internal track system and mechanism for a motorized blind are completely different from a manual one, so they cannot be retrofitted. If you love the smart-home lifestyle, it’s best to go motorized from day one!
11. What is the max size of roller blinds?
We custom-make our blinds to fit your windows perfectly. Here are the maximum limits we can go:
- Manual System: Up to 2.5m wide x 3.3m high.
- Motorised System: Up to 3m wide x 6m high.
Just a small heads-up for motorized systems: if your window height is over 3.5m, the fabric won’t be able to roll up and retract 100% into the top casing, but it will still function perfectly!
12. Do Roller Blinds provide privacy at night?
It depends entirely on the fabric you choose. Blackout fabrics give you total, 100% privacy at night. However, sunscreen fabrics do not provide privacy once the sun goes down and your indoor lights are switched on. If you go with our trending Wabi Sabi Blinds, people outside will see a soft silhouette of you when your indoor lights are turned on.
13. Can I open the window and roll down the roller blinds?
To be completely honest with you, we don’t really suggest doing that! Because a roller blind is one large, continuous sheet of fabric, leaving your windows open can cause a major headache if a strong gust of wind or a sudden rainstorm hits—it can warp the fabric, damage the internal brackets, or make the blinds slam aggressively.
If you really insist on opening the window for some fresh air while keeping the blinds down, we highly recommend rolling them at least halfway up. This gives the wind an escape route so your blinds don’t get battered around!
14. What is the warranty for Roller Blinds?
We want you to enjoy your new blinds with total peace of mind. We provide a 1-year warranty for our manual setups and a 3-year warranty for our motorized systems. This fully covers the motor, internal hardware, and all moving parts—if anything goes wrong, our local specialists will handle it!
