Insider Note: Because of the signature dual-layer design, a small functional gap exists between the fabrics. While they offer incredible coverage, they won’t provide a “pitch black” room. For total 100% darkness, ask us about our Blackout Curtains (hyperlink to blackout curtain page if possible).

1. What are Korean Blinds?

They are a super clever dual-layer window system that features alternating horizontal strips of sheer mesh and solid fabric. People also call them Rainbow Blinds or Zebra Blinds. As you roll them up or down, these fabric layers glide over one another, letting you easily switch between soft daylight, complete privacy, or a clear view of the outside in seconds.

They are a massive hit because they perfectly combine modern, minimalist style with daily practicality. They give you incredibly flexible light control without taking up extra space, which perfectly suits the clean, contemporary look of most HDB and condo interiors today.

It is all about the overlapping layers! By pulling the cord or using a remote, you shift the fabric strips. When the sheer sections line up, light floods into your room. When you shift them so the solid sections cover the sheer ones, you instantly block the sun and get your privacy. It lets you adjust your room’s brightness throughout the day effortlessly.

Absolutely, they are perfect for living rooms! They are incredibly popular for main hall windows because they create a soft, elegant, and breezy look while letting you enjoy natural daylight without the harsh, blinding glare.

While they offer fantastic light control, the layered, two-slat structure means they cannot achieve a 100% pitch-black blackout effect because tiny bits of light can still peek through the gaps between the layers. If you are someone who needs absolute, pitch-black darkness for a deep sleep, we highly recommend our Blackout Roller Blinds or heavy Curtains instead.

Yes, they definitely can be! Many homeowners love using our blackout fabric option for Korean Blinds in the bedroom. It gives you the perfect balance: you can dim the room beautifully for a good rest, but still enjoy soft, filtered light during the day when you’re getting dressed or reading.

Yes, they can definitely help to reduce the heat! While they might not block out the warmth quite as heavily as a solid, single-panel roller blind can, they still do a great job of softening the harsh afternoon sun and cutting down on intense glare, making your indoor spaces feel much more comfortable.

They are incredibly low-maintenance. A quick weekly dusting with a feather duster or a gentle wipe-down is usually more than enough to keep them looking brand new.

Just a pro-tip: be gentle with the sheer mesh sections to ensure that delicate weave stays perfect for years to come.

Yes, they sure can! If you want to experience that ultimate smart-home lifestyle, we can motorise the track system for you. With just a quick tap on a remote control, your smartphone app, or a smart assistant, you can glide your blinds to the perfect position without getting up from your sofa.

The main difference is in the layers. Standard Roller Blinds use a single, flat fabric panel that is either fully rolled up or fully down. Korean Blinds use a double-layer design, which gives you way more granular control over light and privacy without needing to roll the entire blind up.

Definitely! You don’t have to pull the blinds all the way up just to check the weather or see the view. You can simply align the sheer mesh strips to create an “open effect”—this lets you look outside while keeping your room shaded.

It depends on the type of fabric you choose for your home:

  • If you choose Blackout Korean Blinds and close the solid panels, they provide total, 100% privacy from the outside world, even with your indoor lights switched on.
  • If you go with Dimout Korean Blinds, people outside might see a soft silhouette of you if you are standing right next to the window with your indoor lights on.

Yes, they look absolutely stunning on large expanses of glass! Because the fabric layers are incredibly lightweight, they remain smooth and easy to operate even at taller heights. For extra convenience on massive windows, we highly recommend motorising them.

Not at all, they are actually very durable for daily use! Because they look so elegant and feature sheer sections, some homeowners worry they might rip easily. However, they are made from high-quality, tightly woven polyester that is built to last.

The only thing to keep in mind is the sheer mesh part—you’ll just want to be careful not to let any sharp objects, jewelry, or keys scratch against it to prevent snagging the fabric. Also, because of the gaps between the two layers, they can sway a bit if there’s a very strong breeze coming through an open window. Treat them with just a little bit of care, and they will stay looking perfect and working smoothly for years!

To be completely honest with you, we don’t really suggest doing that! Even though the sheer mesh sections look like they are perfect for letting a breeze through, Korean blinds are made of two separate layers of fabric hanging closely together.

If you leave the window open and roll them all the way down, a strong gust of wind can cause the two layers to tangle, warp, or throw the perfect alignment completely out of whack. Plus, a sudden rainstorm could easily splash and damage the fabric.

If you really want to get some fresh air flowing while keeping the room shaded, we highly recommend rolling the blinds at least halfway up. This lets the breeze pass through safely without putting your beautiful blinds at risk!

We custom-make our blinds to fit your windows perfectly. Here are the maximum limits we can go:

  • Manual System: Up to 2.5m wide x 3.3m high.
  • Motorised System: Up to 2.8m wide x 3.5m high.

Just a small heads-up for manual systems: if your window height is over 2.8m, the fabric won’t be able to roll up and retract 100% into the top casing, but it will still function perfectly!

We want you to enjoy your beautiful new space with total peace of mind. We provide a 1-year warranty for our manual setups and a 3-year warranty for our motorised systems. This fully covers the motor, internal hardware, and all moving parts—if you ever need a hand, our local Ecohaus specialists are just a call away!
