The Architect’s Favourite
Venetian blinds are a classic for a reason. They are the only window solution that lets you “aim” the light, bouncing it off the ceiling to brighten a room without the heat hitting your face.
At Ecohaus, we’ve updated this timeless look with modern materials that won’t warp in our humidity, giving your home a crisp, high-end finish.
Material Matters

The Real Deal | Wooden
Nothing beats the natural warmth and premium feel of real wood. These are the “statement pieces” of our collection, best suited for dry areas like your study, master bedroom, or living room.

The Humidity Hero | Polystyrene
Unlike standard PVC that can warp in the sun, our Polystyrene slats are heat-stable up to 60°C. They are completely moisture-resistant, making them the top choice for kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry yards.

Choosing your Control System

Cordlock System | Independent Precision
The traditional choice for those who want absolute control. This system uses two separate cords: one to tilt the slats to the perfect angle, and another to raise the blinds. It is a proven, heavy-duty workhorse found in premium offices and homes across the island.

Mono System | Minimalist Convenience
Our modern upgrade for the contemporary home. This system does away with the clutter, using a single, streamlined cord to handle both the lifting and the tilting. It’s the “go-to” for families who prioritize safety and a clean interior.
Questions?
1. What are Venetian Blinds?
Venetian Blinds are classic, stylish window coverings made with horizontal slats. By simply tilting these slats to different angles, you can completely control how much sunlight pours into your room, adjust your privacy, and let fresh air breeze right through.
2. What materials are available for Venetian Blinds?
We offer two fantastic materials for our Venetian Blinds: Natural Wood and High-Grade Polystyrene.
- Natural Wood is incredibly beautiful and excellent for absorbing and withstanding intense solar heat.
- Polystyrene looks exactly like real timber but is much better at handling water and moisture. Plus, it can withstand heat up to 60°C, making it a far superior, warp-resistant choice compared to cheap, standard PVC materials.
3. Are real wood Venetian blinds suitable for Singapore’s weather?
To be completely honest with you, real wood can sometimes warp, fade, or crack over time when exposed to Singapore’s extreme heat and non-stop humidity. That is why we highly recommend our Polystyrene Venetian blinds instead. They give you that exact same warm, luxurious look of real timber but are 100% waterproof and completely warp-proof.
4. Are Venetian Blinds suitable for bathrooms and kitchens?
Yes, they are absolute lifesavers for these spaces! Bathrooms and kitchens see a lot of steam, splashes, and moisture, which is why you should opt for our Polystyrene range. It handles high humidity and direct water splashes perfectly without absorbing odors or deforming over time.
5. Can Venetian Blinds provide complete darkness?
They do a fantastic job of dimming a room and giving you excellent privacy, but they cannot provide a 100% pitch-black blackout effect. Because of the small routed holes where the control cords pass through and the tiny gaps where the horizontal slats overlap, a very small amount of light will always filter through.
6. Do Venetian Blinds provide privacy?
Yes, they give you amazing privacy control! The best part about Venetian blinds is that you can tilt the slats just enough to block the view from nosey neighbors outside, while still allowing plenty of natural daylight and fresh air to flow into your home.
7. Do Venetian blinds collect a lot of dust?
Because the slats sit horizontally, they can catch settling dust over time—just like any flat surface in a home. However, keeping them clean is quick and painless! A quick swipe with a microfiber blind duster once a week, or using the soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner, will keep them looking pristine in minutes.
8. How to clean Venetian Blinds?
Maintenance is much easier than people think! You don’t need any fancy chemicals—just a quick run with a feather duster or a lightly damp cloth once a week is all it takes to keep them looking fresh, clean, and brand new.
9. What are "Tapes" on Venetian blinds?
“Tapes” are decorative fabric bands that run vertically down the front of your blinds. Not only do they look incredibly premium and give your blinds a tailored, designer look, but they also serve a great purpose: they cover up the tiny cord holes to block out extra light and peek-in gaps.
10. Can Venetian Blinds be motorised?
Yes, they sure can! Depending on your window size and the material weight you choose, we can motorise the system for ultimate smart-home convenience. You can tilt the slats or raise the entire blind with just a quick tap of a button.
11. What makes Venetian blinds unique compared to roller blinds?
Standard roller blinds are single sheets of fabric that are either fully up or fully down. Venetian blinds stand out because of their tilting horizontal slats. This gives you unparalleled control over light and privacy—you can perfectly redirect harsh sun glare away from your eyes or TV screen while keeping your entire living room bright and airy.
12. Are Venetian blinds heavy to lift?
Because they are made of solid, high-quality slats, they are heavier to pull up than lightweight fabric roller blinds, especially on massive windows. To make daily life effortless, we use smart easy-lift systems that cut down the pulling effort, or you can choose to motorize them so you can lift them with a remote control.
13. Are Venetian blinds safe for young children?
Yes, safety is a huge priority for us. We provide safety cleats with all our mono-system Venetian blinds so you can secure the cords neatly out of reach. This ensures there are no loose, dangerous dangling strings around your curious kids or pets.
14. Can I open the window and tilt the Venetian blinds? Does it allow ventilation?
Yes, it absolutely does! In fact, this is one of the biggest reasons homeowners choose Venetian blinds. Because they are made of independent horizontal slats, you can open your window and simply tilt the slats flat to let fresh air and a breezy draft circulate beautifully throughout your home, all while keeping your privacy completely intact.
However, we do have one small pro-tip for you: if you are experiencing very strong, howling winds or a sudden, heavy thunderstorm, it’s best to raise the blinds completely or close your windows. Because the slats are individual pieces, a massive gust of wind can cause them to rattle loudly or slam against your window frame, which could damage them over time. For everyday gentle breezes, though, they work like an absolute charm!
15. What is the max size of Venetian Blinds?
We custom-make every single order to fit your windows seamlessly. Here are the maximum limits we can go:
- Manual System: Up to 2.3m wide x 3m high.
- Motorised System: Up to 2.7m wide x 3m high.
Just a small heads-up for manual systems: if your window height is over 2.8m, the slats will stack up quite thickly at the top and won’t pull up 100% flush into the top casing, but the system will still function perfectly!
16. What is the warranty for Venetian Blinds?
We want you to enjoy your beautiful new space with total confidence. We provide a 1-year warranty for our manual setups and a 3-year warranty for our motorised systems. This fully covers the motor, internal hardware, and all moving parts—if you ever need help, our local Ecohaus specialists are just a call away!
